I love beer conversations. No need to break the ice since the ice is already broken once that first ice cold drink lands on the table. No need to seek topics of conversation because they miraculously pop up with every sip. Strangers are almost instantaneously bonded in a drunken camaraderie. God bless beer!
I’m not a drunk though; just an ardent proponent of the exchange of life improvement teachings amid merriment. Incidentally, this is the kind I have been having of late with strangers turned acquaintances turned friends. Imagine if one day we all woke up drunk, all across the world! Oh, how social we would all be. Continue reading ‘LET’S GET SOCIAL SAVVY!’

I would probably have to be drunk to tell you more about this, but over the course of my Short life, I have tried my hand at various creative exploits including poetry (at a very tender age), singing (to the chagrin of all my listeners), dancing (despite my lanky frame), acting (oh, the memories) and a few other embarrassing ones. I never quite made it in any of these avenues, but I have been fortunate enough to meet many amazing Creatives, my latest encounter being with one Wamathai.
You see, I gave up my dream of being artistic when I realized that I would soon have to relocate to a shack somewhere in the sprawling slums of Nairobi if I kept on along that path. The pay just wasn’t good. So I moved into IT. Somehow, years later, my career path has led me back into crossing that of Creatives. You can imagine my joy.
Why am I rambling about Creatives? Continue reading ‘Monday Moments Ep 5 – The rise of the Creatives’

I thought I heard you hesitating a little with that answer. Is this one of those questions that causes a slight chill to shoot up your spine? Or maybe your heart skipped a beat for a second there?
If you think about it, the pre-google era was still rich in intellectual exploits, innovations and inventions. People used to research and find information albeit not necessarily at the click of a button. I belong to a generation whose internet life has been quite synonymous with google life, so yes, that question sends a chill up my spine. Continue reading ‘Can the world survive without Google?’

Interesting doesn’t begin to express the week I had. From having to come up with a dazzling digital marketing proposal for a billion shilling company, to having to finish off a trendy website within hours, to realizing that there could finally be a business title for the things I do (my business card still reads internet consultant for lack of a better title), it was a week to cherish.
So what caught my attention this past week? Continue reading ‘Monday Moments Ep 4 – What next after Social Networks?’

Christmas is coming early for most people this Year! Zain and Safaricom are at it again, like big boys! While they do that, their dealers are crying foul for being the victims in this tag of war. All I know is, I can now call, and call, and call…and then check my balance just to be sure it’s not a hoax. I have had an interesting week at work, really interesting. Just read on… Continue reading ‘Monday Moments – Who wants to be a Millionaire?’
