Monday Moments Ep 11 – The Best 7 of 2010!!

One of my favorite verses from the Christian Bible is one that says, “Be faithful in little things and you will be accorded Bigger things” or something along those lines. I believe in celebrating little success, no matter how small. If you have visited this blog more than 3 times, then this post is dedicated to you. I intend to go on the down low beginning today, as I prepare for what promises to be a great year for Intervangelist EA in 2011. Lots of ideas, too little time to execute them, but one step at a time and we will get there.

So ladies and gentlemen, here are my best Moments of 2010!! Continue reading ‘Monday Moments Ep 11 – The Best 7 of 2010!!’

Double S Ep2 – 6 basic things you should have on your Website

Half the people who visit this blog are techies so this might be too obvious a post for them. I have been in the business of website development for half a decade now and I assure you, even the best of website developers make the same silly mistakes sometimes. If you own a business and are looking to have your website developed, don’t be fooled. Even the most Stupidly Simple of websites need to have the following 6 elements, in no particular order: Continue reading ‘Double S Ep2 – 6 basic things you should have on your Website’

Monday Moments Ep 10 – A Content Hungry People!

How have you been? Well I hope.

The majority of East Africans are middle to lower class income earners. I know; that’s an obvious fact. The greater part of their year is spent at their jobs, working hard for that pay increase, or just until they get that job that they actually want. The occasional day off is either spent with family, on a drinking spree or for the majority, cooped up on their sofa, tugging on a pillow so hard you’d think it has been trying to escape, watching re-runs of the same TV show since they have exhausted all the DVDs in the house, and are either too broke or too lazy to go out and get more.

Thank God for the likes of Tusker Project Fame and Churchill Live which provide that 45 minute reprieve from the usual routine, hence forming the highlight of many a people’s weeks! Continue reading ‘Monday Moments Ep 10 – A Content Hungry People!’

Monday Moments Ep 3 – We are Robots!

In the past few weeks, I have been introduced to such terminologies as Augmented Reality, QR Codes, Context Computing and a bunch of other words that leave you thirsty for an unholy drink. As if that’s not bad enough, I had to help explain these words to people who are still trying to understand what SEO is. Fun Huh? Not a bit. But it was an interesting experience. What it takes to be Web 2.0

I recently attended an e-Marketing training with Dolphins Consultants, where attendants were being trained on implementing strategies that guarantee online success. The maze of technical jargon had many of the attendants requesting for frequent breaks, but in the end, they went back to their companies armed and ready.

A brief practical session at the end where some of the websites were being criticized revealed a disturbing statistic. Most websites still employ designs from when websites were nothing more than a URL on the company letterhead. Several badly designed pages filled with thousands of words in corporate speak and boring graphics. The Techies call it Web 1.0.

So what does it take to have a Web 2.0 website? Continue reading ‘What it takes to be Web 2.0’

WEBSITE UNDER CONSTRUCTION – LOSING CUSTOMERS

You have finally decided its time to take your business online. You have taken the decisive step of purchasing a domain name and securing hosting space for your new website. Congratulations!

But hold on, you don’t have a website yet. A former colleague of yours has recommended this web developer who did one or two things for her a while back. He promises you a great website, asks for a very pocket friendly payment and tells you the website should be live in a week or so given your requirements.

So far so good.

Well, in the mean time, why not put an ‘Under Construction’ page with your logo and contact details, you know, just in case someone cares to visit your domain. So the web developer hurriedly does a page for you and up it goes. You have now began your journey into Cyberworld. You can’t wait reap the fruits of this highly acclaimed resource that is your company website. Continue reading ‘WEBSITE UNDER CONSTRUCTION – LOSING CUSTOMERS’
